The EU Structural Assistance to Lithuania
in 2007-2013

 As the EU structural assistance in the period of 2007-2013 is a measure of implementation of the national policy of Lithuania, the funding from the Cohesion Fund and the Structural funds is managed jointly and the financial support is included into the national budget planning process.

The EU structural assistance in 2007-2013 is allocated in accordance with “Lithuanian Strategy for the use of EU structural funds for 2007–2013” and individual action programmes. The strategy is aimed at the improvement of investment, work and life conditions in Lithuania so that the benefits of economic growth would be felt by every citizen of Lithuania. The four action programmes are being developed for the implementation of the strategy: human resources development, economic growth, promotion of cohesion and technical support. For the implementation of the action programmes the projects will be developed. It is planned that all projects consistent with the action programmes and meeting requirements will be funded.

The projects of environmental protection will be developed in accordance with the action programme for the promotion of cohesion. This programme is based on the attitude that the conditions for the lasting and harmonious development of economy are established by the improvement of environmental quality and sustainable use of natural resources.
